Biography Sandra MacPherson Watercolours
About the Artist

A painter for nearly 30 years, Sandra’s portfolio of watercolour and acrylic paintings includes landscapes, buildings, floral, still life, and figurative works. She loves the tangible, lasting result of painting as an art form and her work invokes themes of community, history, and preservation.

Known for creating paintings that express the warmth of home and community, Sandra is often commissioned to paint “house portraits” for people wishing to give them as gifts to family and friends. Her painting, “Peonies”, a watercolour created for a wedding invitation, is included in the permanent art collection at the Heintzman House in Thornhill.

Sandra is a member of the Scugog Council for the Arts, the Lake Scugog Studio Tour, and the Coldwater and Area Studio Tour. She is an associate member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, and a Past-President of the Willowdale Group of Artists. Sandra has participated in group and solo shows in York Region, Scugog, Huronia, Parry Sound, and Toronto.

In 2016, Sandra moved with her husband and daughter to a rural property in Port Perry, with vista views of Lake Scugog. There Sandra continues to develop her art in new studio and gallery space. The Gatehouse Gallery opened on the property in the Spring of 2017. The Gallery houses Sandra's work, and the work of fibre artist, Kate MacPherson, and nature and wildlife photographer, Don Downer. Sandra offers workshops and classes in watercolour paintings in the gallery and in her studio.

Sandra’s artwork is included in private and corporate collections across Canada.
